What:  GFE/IFPS Methodology Workshop

Date:  April 21-25, 2003

Where: Forecast Systems Laboratory,  Boulder, CO.

Who is invited:  One (1) IFPS Focal Point from invited offices.

Why:   OCWWS will be co-sponsoring a GFE/IFPS methodology workshop.  The workshop will focus on  issues with spin toward the practical sharing of information.

1) Due Date: March 14, 2003: Please let your contact know the name of the workshop participant. An email is fine.

2) Due Date: March 21, 2003  Please make hotel reservations by March 21, 2003 to ensure rates at or below per diem and room availability.   Hotel and travel information is at end of agenda.

3) Due Date: April 14:  The success of the workshop will depend heavily on the active participation of the attendees. We are discovering together how to make best use the GFE.  Please select your best local IFPS methodology or practice from your office and be prepared to discuss it.  We are requesting that each office bring a slide or two to explain your best practice and show an example.  E-mail this to Brian and your regional focal point by April 14 . Brian will include these slides on the workshop web site.  These do not have to be your final slides but will help us organize the agenda.

Recommended Prerequisites

This training workshop is not intended for beginning IFPS/GFE users.  This workshop does not teach "knobology".  It will involve advanced concepts and use of the IFPS/GFE.  It is highly recommended that you are already familiar with the IFPS/GFE.

Hours of operation:  7:00 am - 5:00 pm (holds 7 people at a time.)   I have "reserved" the shuttle service for a first come basis for the IFPS group to use, however, please note that the last shuttle is 5:00 pm.

There is good, frequent  public transportation to/from the Denver International Airport to Boulder hotels.  There is both a regional RTD bus, and several van companies.
