Other Contributors: Brian Motta

Reviewers:  Shannon White, Brian Motta, Sam Beckman, Carl Gorski, Andy Edman, Kirby Cook

1) Introduction

The material in this session is designed to provide local office staff an overview of an Interactive Forecast Preparation System (IFPS) methodology used at a Warning and Forecast Office (WFO). The methodology involves the creation and use of change grids to modify the existing official or forecast database in preparation of graphical forecast grids.

Tim Barker, SOO at Boise,ID,  is the instructor for this lesson and has created this training session based on highly-acclaimed IFPS Methodology Workshop presentations.  This training is offered to facilitate the sharing of this methodology by the creators directly with field forecasters.  Similar methodologies will be used to incorporate NCEP-provided (SPC, HPC, TPC) guidance grids.

2) Prerequisites
None. This is an introductory-level course.  Previous exposure to the use of HPC Delta-grids or local Work Grids in IFPS would be beneficial but is not required.
