Recommended Prerequisites
This training workshop is not intended for beginning GFE users. This
course does not teach "knobology". It teaches advanced concepts of
the GFE. It is highly recommended that you are already familiar with
the GFE and are familiar with the following concepts:

knobology techniques presented in the Essential
GFE Techniques

writing smart tools and procedures

configuration, including Base
Site, User concepts as it applies to gfe
and ifpIMAGE
configuration files, and serverConfig and localConfig files.

Software Build
The software version that will be taught at the workshop is RPP16, which
had a release date of April 12, 2002. The equivilant AWIPS version
is IFPS10 which all sites will be receiving in June 2002. Much of the
information applies to 5.1.2 and 5.2.1 AWIPS systems.
Logistics
Location of Workshop
The workshop will start promptly at 830am on Tuesday April 30 in
the David Skaggs Research Center (DSRC) room GC402. This is the multi-purpose
room in the lower-level. The building location is on the NOAA/NIST
campus at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO.
Registration
If you wish to be a participant, please contact your regional representative
for this workshop. The regions will contact FSL to sign up their

Hotel
Arrangements have been made with "The Broker Inn". They have reserved
a block of rooms under the name "NWS Workshop" for April 29 through
May 3rd. The rage is $93.00/night (government per diem). Attendees
can call 1-800-338-5407 to reserve the rooms. Deadline for reservations
for this block of rooms is March 29th.

Cars/Buses
There is good, frequent public transportation to/from the Denver
International Airport to Boulder hotels. There is both a regional
RTD bus, and several
van companies.
