Recommended Prerequisites

This training workshop is not intended for beginning GFE users.  This course does not teach "knobology".  It teaches advanced concepts of the GFE.  It is highly recommended that you are already familiar with the GFE and are familiar with the following concepts:

Software Build

The software version that will be taught at the workshop is RPP14, which is planned to have a release date of early November.  The equivilant AWIPS version is 5.2.1./5.2.2.

Logistics

Location of Workshop

The workshop will start promptly at 830am on Wednesday November 14th in the David Skaggs Research Center (DSRC) room GC402.  This is the multi-purpose room in the lower-level.  The building location is on the NOAA/NIST campus at 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO.

Hotel

A block of rooms have been reserved for you at the Broker Inn, which is conveniently located nearby to the DSRC building. When calling to make reservations, please tell them that you are with the National Weather Service workshop.  The room rate is $93.00 per day, which is a couple of dollars over the allowable per diem. It is about a 10 minute walk from the Broker Inn to the DSRC building. Phone number for the Broker Inn is 303-444-3330.

Cars/Buses

There is good, frequent  public transportation to/from the Denver International Airport to Boulder hotels.  There is both a regional RTD bus, and several van companies.

Due to heightened security, please be sure to bring your NOAA badge with you to this workshop.
