The workshop is scheduled to take place at FSL from September 24 through

Recommended Prerequisites
This training workshop is not intended for beginning GFE users. This
course does not teach "knobology". It teaches advanced concepts of
the GFE. It is highly recommended that you are already familiar with
the GFE and are familiar with the following concepts:

knobology techniques presented in the Essential GFE Techniques

writing smart tools and procedures
-
configuration, including Base, Site, User concepts as it applies to gfe
and ifpIMAGE
configuration files, and serverConfig and localConfig files

the material in the following training guides:

GFE Spatial Editor Training Guide

GFE Grid Manager Training Guide

GFE Temporal Editor Training Guide

GFE Smart Tools Training Guide
Software Build
The software version that will be taught at the workshop is RPP19, which
will be released in September. The equivilant AWIPS version will
be IFPS11 or IFPS12 which all sites will be receiving early fall.

There are a limited number of slots available for this workshop. The
participants that are registered are listed on the attendees
page.
Hotel
A block of rooms (50) under the name "GFE Training Workshop" have been reserved. The room rate is $93.00 per night which is government per
diem. In the past, this rate included breakfast and now it doesn't.
If people want to have breakfast they can upgrade their room to $98.00
per night which would include the breakfast, but that portion wouldn't be
covered under hotel per diem. You need to call 303-444-3330 and reserve
your their rooms by August 23, 2002. Arrival date is 9/23/2002 and departure date is 9/27/2002.

There is good, frequent public transportation to/from the Denver
International Airport to Boulder hotels. There is both a regional
RTD bus, and several
van companies.
Security
Due to heightened security, please be sure to bring your NOAA badge with
you to this workshop.
